The Greene County Board of Developmental Disabilities is a county agency committed to serving individuals with disabilities in Greene County, while providing support services for their families.
Our mission is helping people lead dignified, successful lives. The Board strives to ensure the availability of programs, supports, and services that assist eligible individuals with disabilities in making choices and achieving a life of increasing capability so that they may live, work, and play in the community.
Major service areas include Early Childhood, Community Services, and Adult Services, as well as Finance and Administration. Each of these areas is committed to excellence in providing services to our many valued citizens.
In 2009, the Greene County Board of Developmental Disabilities Adult Services Division officially opened the Atrium Center, a state of the art Day Services facility designed to provide a calm and therapeutic environment for individuals with developmental disabilities. The programs focus upon therapies and activities that help individuals access their highest potential. The wide array of services include a School of Cooking, multi-sensory therapy rooms for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities, art therapy, pet therapy, repositioning, a spacious, naturally lighted cafeteria and courtyard café, classrooms, and a clinic. Numerous community-based activities are available.
